The Alluring Ease Collection
My favorite memories from Norway were mostly small things we stumbled upon. There was an alleyway surrounded by tilting houses and stairways that felt like a scene from Harry Potter. We spent an evening in the middle of nowhere, sitting by a window, wrapped in comforters to keep warm, sipping cheap wine and watching the stars come out. We raced through the Naeroyfjord on a speedboat, walked through manicured gardens at old hotels, and fell asleep by a wood-fired stove at an airbnb on a remote sheep farm. The Alluring Ease Collection was inspired by these kinds of moments.
The Best Kind of Presents
Gifts are definitely a love language of mine. I think that this probably ties in with being an artist. From a very young age, I loved making crafts or drawing pictures and handing them out to family and friends. Art has a really cool way of being both a physical present, and an experience.
Italy Itinerary - Cinque Terre
Cinque Terre means “Five Lands” in Italian. There are five colorful towns along the coast in the Italian Rivera that are linked by hiking trails and train. This area is called “Cinque Terre”, but it consists of the towns of Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore. We spent three days hiking, eating, and talking with locals.
Italy Itinerary - Venice
Our Italy trip was too long to post about in one blog, so I’m breaking it down city by city. Our first stop was Venice, which is great because it is such a magical city with streets made of water, puppets hanging from shop windows, and lots of nooks to explore. It was a great first stop on our trip.
Yearning for Tuscany
I’m already mentally planning a trip back to Italy in which we just find an Agriturismo in each town we want to go to, and stay in each one for a few days. Relaxing, slow, and lots of wine. That’s probably why my first Italy collection is focused around Tuscany
The Roaming Current Collection
Bodies of water, oceans, lakes, rivers, and the like, draw me in. Sometimes it flows for miles and you can’t see where it ends. You never really know how deep it is, or what mysteries it contains. The water is always moving, yet it is stable. You can count on it being right where you left it, mostly unchanged. In a world full of change, there’s comfort in coming back to the same bodies of water year after year.
The Draw of Italy
The magic of Italy is in the people. Italians are more focused on connection, rather than power. They see value in each individual. They emphasize connection, and the enjoyment of being together.
The Coastal Mist Collection Inspiration
When our trip to Banff got canceled due to Covid, we bought plane tickets to visit Acadia National Park on a whim. I fell so in love with the magic of the park and the charming town of Bar Harbor that I knew I had to make a collection of paintings to take me back there.
Chronic Pain - Part 3
I haven’t done a great job giving updates since my surgery, and I think that has left a lot of people thinking that my surgery fixed everything. I really, really wish that was true.
Christmas Traditions
Christmas Eve is my favorite day of the year. We spend all day together, preparing and celebrating. No one is worried about anything going on outside of the house. We’re together and focused on time spent with one another. We know what to expect, and we look forward to it.
Coming Home
Coming back from a trip is always hard for me. I’m so excited while I’m there. I’m not one of those people who anticipate the end of the trip. I don’t think, “Well this is almost over,” and prepare myself. I enjoy every bit of it and then have a bit of a crash when I come home.
Chronic Pain & Surgery – Part 2
Part two of my journey with Thoracic Outlet Syndrome and Occipital Neuralgia.
Welcome
Hey! I’m Kaitlyn. I wanted to introduce myself and include a blog on my site so that you can get to know me more. I believe that there is a direct link between someone’s life and their art, so getting to know me may help give you insight into my work. I’ll be sharing about my everyday life, my work, and my adventures. I hope that this will also be a place that I can get to know you.
