Inspired by the song, “Orange Juice,” by Noah Kahan
This song has consistently been the most requested for me to paint, and it’s clear why—it resonates deeply with many people. Noah beautifully captures the experience of a friend who has embraced sobriety, conveying the love and support of those around them. The lyrics reflect on the sober friend’s feelings about past events, presumably from a time when they were drinking.
Noah writes, “There's orange juice in the kitchen, bought for the children. It's yours if you want it. We're just glad you could visit.” This imagery paints a scene of friends gathering for a party, a stark contrast to the wild nights of the past. I imagine that there’s food sizzling on the grill, laughter filling the air, and children running around. There’s no pressure to drink just to be a part of the group.
