“La Vigna” means, “The Vineyard,” in Italian. Just outside of downtown Siena is a beautiful little agriturismo we stayed at for a couple of days. It is nestled in the hills of Tuscany, surrounded by vineyards, olive groves, and lemon trees. After a long day of visiting vineyards, we arrived back at the agristurismo and took a walk through these vineyards, watching the sun go down. With the wind gently ruffling the new spring leaves, we sat and enjoyed the peaceful moments of sunset.
This painting features the greens, blues, and browns of the countryside, illuminated by the golden yellow of the setting sun. The movement from the drips and the gentle overlap of the hills create a sense of peaceful movement.
